Synology Package Management

Since the 722 firmware for Synology NAS boxes, a “Package Management”-service has made it possible to install and run packages – also known as SPK files, as “.spk” is the extension used by these packages. A package is in this case typically a program or script, that adds functionality to the Synology NAS.

The cool thing is, that this system is open, so anyone can make a package. These are the ones I found:

Synology maintained packages

3rd party packages

  • Current Connection
This simple program shows the established network connections of the disk station. It will display a table with TCP/UDP connections and a table with connections to the Samba (Windows) shares.
  • Service Switch
This programs gives you the ability to see the status of all services. By double-clicking on the service, you can change the start or stop the selected service.
  • SABnzbd
This program will install and run SABnzbd on the Synology NAS.
  • WebShare Enabler
This program makes it possible for php scripts running on the webserver to have access to the shared directories.
  • Config File Editor
Using this utility, you will be able to edit configuration files on your DiskSation without the need for learning VI or moving files from and towards your DiskStation.
  • eyeOS
This program will install and run eyeOS on the Synology NAS.
  • eXtplorer
This program will install and run eXtplorer on the Synology NAS.
  • Webmin
This program will install and run Webmin on the Synology NAS.
  • phpMyAdmin 3
This program will install and run phpMyAdmin 3 on the Synology NAS.
  • phpMyAdmin 2
This program will install and run phpMyAdmin 2 on the Synology NAS.

Please post a comment if your know of a SPK package that isn’t listed here.

Jeps, det er et kendt problem, som jeg også ved, at Synology’s udviklere kigger på. Læs mere om det i Synology’s forum.

    Håber det hjalp.
